AIWEFA GRC becomes SSK
The Delhi Government was keen on converging
various services from different Departments of the Government to
the BPL families and introduced Mission Convergence Plan
on August 15, 2008. Under this Mission, AIWEFA GRC (Gender
Resource Centre) became SSK ( Samajik Suvidha Kendre).
At this SSK, situated in Geeta Colony, East Delhi, people can benefit
from various Delhi Government shemes through “One Window “
only.
Smt. Dikshit congratulated
The office bearers of AIWEFA called on Smt. Sheila Dikshit
on December 29, 2008 at her residence and congratulated
her on being elected the Chief Minister of Delhi State for
the the 3rd consecutive term. The occasion was also used to highlight
certain major issues bothering women and discussed proposals to
improve the quality of life of people and women in particular.
Smt. Walia congratulated
Office bearers of AIWEFA congratulated Smt. Kiran Walia
on becoming the minister for Health & Family Welfare,
Women & Child Development in Delhi State Government .
AIWEFA office bearers visited her in her office on June 12, 2009
and sought her support for various activities of AIWEFA.
Chinese
Delegation visited
A five member Chinese delegation led by Mme.Li
Chunyan,Vice President of Guangdong People’s Association for
Friendship with Foreign Countries, China, visited AIWEFA
office on June22, 2009 for a breakfast meeting. They extended invitation
to members of AIWEFA to visit their projects in 2010 and renew friendships.
They discussed future cooperation between the two organisations
in terms of women’s protection and education.
DST
"Krishi Mela" held
A “Krishi Mela” was organised under
DST ( Depatment of Science & Technology) project at
Daboda village in Gurgaon, on June 24, 2009 by AIWEFA to mark the
successful completion of one year of the agricultural project to
remove drudgery amongst farm- women.

(ii) Dr. Sarala Gopalan represented
AIWEFA at the 'ECOSOC High Level Segment Meeting' at Geneva on 7th
& 8th July 2009.
(ii) The Annual General Meeting of AIWEFA was held on July 23,2009
,where names of AIWEFA Executive Committee for the next term ( 2009-2012)
were nominated and accepted. Names of the members to be on the Governing
Body of Lady Irwin College for the next term ( 2009-2010 ) were
also nominated and accepted to be sent to the University of Delhi
for approval.
(iii) The 7th Nina Sibal Memorial Award was
given to "Shanta Memorial Rehabilitation Centre", Bhubaneswar,
Orissa at a function held on August 2, 2009.
