1.AIWEFA Stree Ratna Award

In recognition of the commitment of visionaries who have devoted their lives for the cause of freedom and justice the “AIWEFA Stree Ratna” award is being instituted. The award will honour outstanding achievers for their advocacy in empowerment through education, health and nutrition and economic independence.

2002
Smt. Narendra Purao, Annapurna Mahila Mandal, by Smt. Sheila Dikshit. Prema Purao has dedicated her life to social service and empowerment of women.

2003
Dr. Seema Sakhare, Nagpur University by Smt. Sheila Dikshit. She has founded and presided over Stree Atyachar Virodhi Parishad (SAVP) (Forum Against Atrocities on Women), Legal Literacy Movement for Women (LLM) and Vidarbha Association for Women’s Studies (Forum Against Rape). Among the services she has established for the rehabilitation of women is the Family Counselling Centre and Short Stay Home at Nagpur.

2004
Ms. P. Kousalaya, President Positive Women Network and Joint Secretary of Indian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (INP+) by Dr. Girja Vyas. She is also a Trustee Member of ICW (Asia Pacific Region). She has been awarded the HIV Positive Women Activist Award –2004 of Letten Foundation, Barcelona.

2. AIWEFA Nina Sibal Award


AIWEFA instituted the Nina Sibal Award for an NGO working on disability, with the endowment made by Shri Kapil Sibal in memory of his late wife Smt. Nina Sibal. The award would be largely for the disabled and disadvantage children who are being given education through innovative methods. The members of this Committee are Dr.Karan Singh, Dr.Kapila Vatsyayan and Dr.Kapil Sibal.

2003
The first recipient of the Nina Sibal award is Ms. Merry Barua, President, Action for Autism.

2004
Mr. Sumit Roy, Digdarshika was presented the award by Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Smt. Meira Kumar. Digdarshika Institute of Rehabilitation and Research is a non-profit voluntary organization. The vision of the organization is to provide congenial environment and equal opportunities for the mentally challenged. Through its research and documentation

Dr. Sangeeta Agarwal, SHUBHAM was presented the award by Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, Chairperson, India International Centre-Asia Project. SHUBHAM, a welfare organization for the development of persons with disabilities. Its activities are targeted at enabling people suffering from both physical and mental impairment to be encouraged and brought in mainstream of healthy life

3. AIWEFA Platinum Jubilee Award



One time lifetime achievement AIWEFA Platinum Jubilee Award recipient who has made an outstanding contribution in the fields of fuel or water or sanitation.

Mr. Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder Sulabh International Social Service Organization, is an icon of the sanitation movement not only in India but also in the entire world who has made a difference in the lives of millions and millions of people. He is a crusader for restoration of human rights and dignity to abject scavengers. The Sulabh Sanitation Movement is translating the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by its painstaking efforts. It has apparently changed the thought and behaviour of the people towards sanitation and the scavenging system. It has played a pioneering role in promoting sanitation and healthcare to ensure good life, especially for the poor and the disadvantaged

4. Scholarships



AIWEFA also award Raj Rani Scholarship and two Padmini Scholorship to the students of Lady Irwin College every year
